ELECTRODE AND COATING THEREFOR

 

Abstract

A method of making a coated electrode for use in an electrolyte, the electrode made thereby, and the method of using the electrode. At least part of the surface of a conductive base corresponding to the working area of the electrode is coated at least once with a solvent-containing composition of at least one material from which an oxide of a film-forming metal can be formed by evaporation and heating and at least one further material from which at least one non-film forming conductor can be formed by evaporation and heating. The base has at least. 

 

The coating according to the invention need not cover the entire surface of the electrode to be immersed in the electrolyte. As a matter of fact, the coating need only cover 2% of the immersed zone, and the electrode will still operate effectively and efficiently.
